Formed in 2005, consolidating the talent of two long standing friends Julian Aust (ex-Velinas) and Christian Rossbach (ex-Madre Del Vizio/Madre, Chassalla, Moribund Thirteen A.D.), to bring to life their mutual vision of dynamic gothic rock, which successfully bridges a fresh but recognizable classic sound with a bygone golden era.
Be prepared for the third full-length album by the German Gothic Duo! The outfit clearly draws inspiration from classic goth and post punk acts from the eighties and early nineties but none- theless retains and communicates their own unique vision. They bring to life their mutual con- ception of dynamic gothic rock that bridges a fresh but recognizable classic sound with a bygone golden era.
"These Hands Let Go“ drives home what The Shallow Graves are all about: Deep and gravelly, haunting vocals, crushing electronic drums, harrowingly melodic reverb-soaked guitars, driving b ass and poetic lyrics that invite meditations on the fragile nature of life and love, loss and grief. Love songs and drum machines…
MICK MERCER - Author of Gothic Rock, Gothic Rock Black Book, The Hex Files: „…within a very short time The Shallow Graves mutated into the new favorites of the German Goth fanbase…“
THOMAS THYSSEN - Linernotes „Darkness Before Dawn Vol. I“ Compilation: „…danceability is guaranteed and elegiac, emotional moments will not be missed out.“
KARIN HOOG - Sonic Seducer, Totem Fanzine: „…a delightful outfit which clearly draws inspiration from classic goth and post-punk acts such as The Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus and Joy Division but nonetheless retains and communicates their own unique vision.“
