The musical output of Anna Nin alias GLARING remains high and so far the demands of fans have always been satisfied. With „Paralyzed/Schweben“, two digital EPs from 2022 are now being released on vinyl and CD for the first time – and all in re-mastered sound quality. Additionall the 2023 digital single ‘Things left in the past’ has been added as a bonus-track.

The fact that YOUNG & COLD RECORDS has released the music of GLARING in such quick succession - after all, this is the fourth album in around 18 months - shows how popular this initially inconspicuous project has become.

Each release has a slightly different focus, somewhere between Shoegaze, Guitar Wave, Postpunk and Ethereal Wave, but is always based on the broad field of Darkwave. The over all instrumental sounds, in which the occasional vocal contribution is more of an additional instrument, are, as always, wonderfully atmospheric, autumnal, melancholic and ingratiating.

Sometimes the bass is a little New Order-like, sometimes you feel reminded of B-sides of The Cure-singles between 1987 and 1992, then the flat synth carpets are somewhat reminiscent of Clan Of Xymox. GLARING would certainly have been a sensation on a label like 4 AD Records in the second half of the 80s or on Projekt Records in the 90s. If you liked GLARING before, you can't go wrong with this album either.
