Genre: Electronic / Minimal Wave. VINYL ONLY release, limited to strictly 300 copies only!

Founded in 2018, Carlo Onda symbolizes a pivotal moment in the renewal of the Darkwave scene. Started as a loner project, not knowing anything about the striving Darkwave culture, amazingly the project found it’s way to interested listeners. Through the net, soundcloud and through Bandcamp.

Sonically the music is grounded in the iconic 80s New Wave scene. These elements get mixed with 90s Dance and 2014s Electronica, so listeners feel echoes of the dancefloors of the past 40 years. This style was already present on the 2021 „Souleater“ album and will be further de- veloped in this brand new “Euro 89”.

TRACKS: A1 Bad to the Bone A2 Your Kiss so sweet A3 Kette A4 Friscolino A5 Downtown B1 Temptation B2 Silent at Night B3 Hush Hush little Baby B4 Close to Midnight B5 Let me go

Carlo Onda about "EURO89“:

This is all together the album that I spent the most time with developing. I think it started in march 22 with 12 very lofi instrumentals that dive deep into my sonic identity with playing cheap drum- machines, synthesizers and free software. I initially wanted to make an album including friends I've made through the last years. As time flew by, caring for my newborn Karl, I undererstimated the sheer chaos that comes with collaborating with different people on an piece of music.

Besides working my dayjob, taking care of a child and playing lots of shows with the Karl Kave & Durian Experience. Then my family went to Cambodia for three weeks. Without me. I knew I had the singular chance to make a step forward. So I worked every minute I had and put something together, that sat between 80s postpunk, 90s trash and 2004 electronica. I called it eurotrash, not knowing there's a Christian Kracht novel with that name. Some months passed and the music wore off. It lost it's spark. But I really loved the lyrics. So I started another round. I took the fun route (…) - It's a bit weird. It's digital clones of vintage instruments, that wanted to be a symbol of the future. Degraded by effects that turn the input to something voluntary bad. A highly over- used technique, that combines past with present. Superficially making something fall out of time, but at the same time, when exagerating it, those who know, can't be fooled at all.

Euro89 aims to have a similiar effect on sound, that those Instagram filters try to have on pictures. At the first glimpse they make the material look older and vintage but they can’t hide the fact that it’s today’s world experienced through a nostalgic and melancholic lense.
