Claudio Simonetti and his Goblins create a new version of the soundtrack for Tenebre (also often known under the latin name Tenebrae), the film by Dario Argento from 1982. The main characteristic of this score is its ability to blend 1980s electronic dance melodies, typical of Italo disco, with a highly original electronic horror prog rock sound. Featuring vocoder, electronic drums, and pulsating basslines, it stands as one of Claudio Simonetti's most original soundtracks, reimagined with meticulous sonic detail and a haunting horror dance-rock atmosphere. Tenebrae's score is very different from those the band had produced for Argento previously. In the early 1980s, Simonetti experimented with dance music, and he opted for a more electronic sound for Tenebrae. Simonetti described the score as an electronica/rock hybrid, with the main theme including disco elements. Simonetti himself felt the score was good, but that it was only a "medium"-level success. However, it did enjoy a second wave of popularity being remixed in clubs and the album has had multiple reissues in numerous countries since its original release in 1982 on the Italian Cinevox label.
